There was a particularly boisterous brain-storming session which took place in our LitSoc Secretary’s room one evening aimed at naming our magazine. Some wanted a name with an intellectual bent, some wanted it to be fun, and others were concerned with copyright and trademark violations!
We knew we had arrived when we all heard “Sauce!” for the first time. The room was silent (albeit, for a split-second) and slowly, each face broke into a smile. We’ve got it! It’s perfect!! We marvelled at our own genius. Someone read out from dictionary.com, “something that adds piquance or zest”, “impertinence; sauciness”.
In our opinion, the magazine’s name sums up its endeavour to bring life and flavour and zest to life on a law university campus. It also conveys the underlying feeling of boldness, cheek and non-conformity characteristic of many literary endeavours.
